emme | A wolf’s odyssey
Journeying in the footsteps of a wolf through central Europe, the filmmaker explores the spectral nature of this animal in the collective imagination.
Journeying in the footsteps of a wolf through central Europe, I, as the filmmaker, retrace the longest recorded wolf dispersal in Europe—over 1,900 kilometres from Switzerland to Hungary. What begins as an external journey unexpectedly unfolds into a deeply personal exploration. Through this narrative, the film delves into wandering and wilderness as forms of therapy, offering a compelling portrait of the wolf. It examines not only the animal’s real-world migration but also its spectral presence in the collective imagination.
